To celebrate the launch of their new children’s play park, Gunwharf Quays invited children from St. George’s Beneficial Primary School to be the first to enjoy the new equipment!

The group of four- and five-year-olds was also treated to a ride on the shopping centre’s colourful new land train, before setting off on an exciting history trail to learn all about Gunwharf’s vibrant maritime history.

Colin Wilding, General Manager at Gunwharf Quays, said: “We are delighted to welcome local schoolchildren to our centre, and to give them the opportunity to be the first to try out our fantastic new play area.

“As a day-out destination, we want to ensure we offer just as much variety for our younger guests as we do for adults, and based on the children’s reactions today, we have achieved this objective!”

The play equipment includes a multi-level, multi-activity play structure allowing children to choose between a traditional slide down or, alternatively, the great bannister bars. It’s also accessible for children with walkers or wheelchairs using the stairway.

The play area also features a traversing wall, a butterfly see-saw (which up to four children can enjoy at the same time), a music pipes play panel, a concave mirror panel, a beehive finger maze, and lots of sensory planting, with a design to promote fun and challenging physical play.
