Isle of Wight residents can enjoy some cheap thrills at Gunwharf Quays’ live scare attraction, Torment, thanks to discounted travel courtesy of Wightlink.

The ferry company are offering discounted travel for those brave enough to visit the gruesome structure — a 7,000 square foot immersive walk-through Halloween experience themed as a Victorian manor house.

Torment brings together live actors, custom-built scenery, special effects, and a huge dose of screams and laughs to Gunwharf Quays.

Islanders wishing to join in the fun — which runs until October 29th — can take advantage of a special Wightlink offer, slashing prices by almost a third. On presentation of their Torment ticket at Ryde Pier’s ticket office, they’ll be able to purchase foot passenger travel at a discount:

  • Adult day return: £10.00
  • Student day return: £10.00
  • Senior day return: £10.00
  • Child (aged between five and 15) day return: £5.00
  • Infants: free

Wightlink Business Development Director Clive Tilley says:  “We are always keen to work with mainland events and attractions to make it easy and affordable for Islanders to visit them. We will shortly be announcing details of more seasonal travel offers, so watch this space.”

Torment is best enjoyed with a group of friends or family — but it’s for those aged 13 and up only. The story goes that the haunted house belonged to the twisted Lord Earlsford. In sheer desperation following the death of his young family, he unwittingly unleashed a host of evil demons into his home, where they stalk the halls in search of prey.
